DURBAN - Public servants say they have nothing to celebrate this Workers' Day.

This, as wage negotiations between unions and government remain deadlocked.

Unions are demanding an 8.3 percent increase.

They say the state is failing workers.

"You can't be increasing petrol, you can't be increasing fuel at the same time. You are actually reversing the workers' gains," said Edwin Mkhize, Cosatu's KZN Secretary.
