World Bank loan will accelerate COVID-19 response - Phaahla

JOHANNESBURG - Health Minister, Joe Phaahla says the loan by the World Bank will ensure government accelerates its COVID-19 response.

The World Bank granted South Africa a loan of R11.4 billion.

Government asked for the loan as part of efforts to address the socio-economic impact of COVID-19 and bolster economic recovery.

The loan comes just ahead of Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana’s maiden budget speech in February.
