JOHANNESBURG - Nearly 25 years into democracy and thousands of school children in South Africa still use pit latrines.

To mark World Toilet Day, eNCA looks at government’s failure to provide proper sanitation to all its people.

Michael Komape’s death will always be a reminder of this failing.

Aged just five years, he died after falling into a pit latrine at his school in Limpopo in 2014.

eNCA reporter Masego Rahlaga visited a few places in Gauteng and Limpopo, where people still don’t have access to adequate sanitation.
