JOHANNESBURG - Zane Kilian (39) has been charged with the murder of Charl Kinnear.
The former rugby player also faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder, and unlawful interception of communication.
The anti-gang unit investigator was gunned down outside his home in the Cape Town suburb of Bishop Lavis a week ago.
Kilian was arrested in Gauteng on Wednesday and appeared in court on Friday.
He will remain in custody until 5 October.
Kilian is a former Valke and Griquas player.
Investigations are continuing, and more arrests are expected.
