JOHANNESBURG - The country's biggest church the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) is yet to decide if it will open during Level 3 of the lockdown.
Earlier it was erroneously reported that the ZCC won’t open in South Africa.
But the church has clarified that it has decided not to open its branches in Lesotho and Botswana, but no decision has been taken on South African operations yet.
Leader of the ZCC Bishop Dr BE Lekganyane still needs to give direction on the church’s decision as pertaining to Level 3 of the lockdown.
This comes after President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that religious gatherings under strict regulations would be allowed when the country enters Level 3 on Monday.
Churches, temples, mosques, synagogues, and other recognised places of worship will be allowed to resume services with a maximum of 50 people or less at a time, depending on the available space.
