The helicopter crash is the second tragedy for SA soldiers in two weeks.

GOMA - United Nations troops have launched a counterattack against rebels in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This comes after three South African troops were wounded in an attack on an operations base in the eastern part of the country.

They had been deployed as part of a UN force, which is trying to clamp down on militia groups.

Meanwhile, the SA National Defence Force praised the soldiers for defending their position.

One of the soldiers was seriously wounded. The troops were taken to a hospital in Goma, and are in a stable condition.
