JOHANNESBURG – Former President Thabo Mbeki says the road to ANC's Polokwane elective conference of 2007 was riddled with lies.

Mbeki was interviewed by Power Fm’s Given Mkhari on Thursday night.

"A lot of what happened in that conference in Polokwane was based on lies,” Mbeki said.

“Lies were told to Malema by people whom he had no reason to disbelieve and acted accordingly. The use of lies to achieve particular objectives, people don’t discuss the practicality of what happened which made Malema to behave the way he did."
