JOHANNESBURG - Although open to persuasion, the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) says it's still rallying behind Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma to be the next leader of the ANC.
“As the ANC Youth League we are still firm in our belief that Comrade Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma must be able to lead us post the National Conference or must take over from President Zuma. Nobody has convinced us otherwise, ,but we are not fixated, we are open to persuasion, we are open to discussions," says Kwazi Mshengu, KwaZulu-Natal ANCYL Chairperson.
The Youth League says its stance on expropriation of land without compensation has not changed, despite not getting the full support of the party.
“Our position as the ANC youth league is clear, let’s expropriate land without compensation," said Mshengu.
"Obviously there will be those who don’t agree with us, but we are quite happy about the manner in which we have been pushing as the ANC youth league to say that the national policy conference and the national conference in December must resolve to amend the constitution to expropriate land without compensation.”
