South Africa has withdrawn its ambassador to Israel after the country&39;s armed forces killed 60 Palestinians.
“The ANCYL demands that Israel’s ambassador to South Africa should be expelled from our country, and the embassy status be downgraded with immediate effect. This will be a more radical stance that could be taken by our government in solidarity with the people of Palestine,” the league said in a statement.
Tens of thousands of Palestinians have been gathering at the border with Israel, demanding to be allowed to return to occupied territory.
Four emergency hospitals have been set up to deal with the injuries and deaths.
