JOHANNESBURG - As the nation continues to mourn the passing of Madiba, a memorial service for another South African hero is underway at the Nasrec Expo Centre.
The sports fraternity is bidding farewell to boxing champion Jacob “Baby Jake” Matlala.
Matlala died last weekend at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital from a lung problem.
The 51-year-old held four world titles and two South African boxing titles.
Matlala represented Nelson Mandela with his last victory belt before he retired in 2002.
His funeral will be held at the Rhema Bible church in Randburg, Johannesburg.
