Magistrate Labuschagne: The court is satisfied by argument presented by the State that this was murder. #SandileMantsoe— Koketso Dlongolo (@Kokid8) June 30, 2017
Defense: If #SandileMantsoe tried to defeat the ends of justice he would have destroyed the evidence.— Koketso Dlongolo (@Kokid8) June 30, 2017
The 27-year-old accused claimed that Mokoena committed suicide.
The state says #SandileMantsoe didn't disclose the position of the deceased body when he found her."Did she hang herself, did she overdose?"— Koketso Dlongolo (@Kokid8) June 30, 2017
But the state maintained Mantsoe had murdered Mokoena in a ritual killing in order to sever the blood tie between them, and restore his failing business.
Prosecutors said it was unclear whether Mokoena was alive when her body was doused with petrol and set alight.
The case was postponed to July 28.
