JOHANNESBURG – Pressure is mounting for ANC MP Mduduzi Manana to resign from Parliament.

The DA and PAC are calling for his removal.

This follows fresh allegations that he pushed his domestic worker down the stairs at his home in Fourways, Johannesburg.

A case of common assault was opened against him over the weekend but has since been withdrawn.

Manana, who denies the allegations, said he had an argument with the worker about granting access to people to the house.

He said he has the right to reprimand his employee if she flouts the rules and her claims are simply a ploy to discredit and tarnish his name.

Manana said he would be laying extortion charges against the woman&39;s family for allegedly demanding R100,000 from him.

Last year Manana was convicted on three counts of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, after he assaulted women at a nightclub.
