An angry customer has gone to extremes to express his dissatisfaction with the service he has received from Cell C by erecting this banner at a major intersection in Randburg.
JOHANNESBURG – One extremely angry cellphone customer has gone to extreme lengths to express his dissatisfaction with the service he has received from his service provider by erecting a massive protest banner at a busy intersection.
Cell C is the target of the banner which has drawn the attention of passing motorists who have photographed it on their phones and tweeted the images.
The banner, printed in on black with a giant Cell C logo, proclaims: “The most useless service provider in SA – Cell C Sandton City” with a disclaimer in smaller print reading: “Cell C’s Riaan van Rooyen – ‘Franchise Manager’ – says his unnamed ‘executive head’ refuses to assist the customer!!” alongside a smiley face in the Cell C colours.
Not much is known about the dispute that led to the extreme action.
Contacted for comment on the issue this morning, Cell C gave only a brief response.
"We can confirm that there is a dispute between Cell C and the customer responsible for the banner and we are attempting to resolve the matter,” said media relations manager Candice Jones in response to eNCA’s questions.
One tweeter estimated that the banner exercise would have cost about R30 000.

How far must the boundaries of badservice be pushed before a customer spends (prob) R30k+ to tell the world? CellC pic.twitter.com/gkrCPopiWV
