JOHANNESBURG - The Chamber of Mines is requesting a meeting with Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa.

It wants to discuss the impasse over the mining charter.

The chamber says in its current form, it will hurt mining companies.

WATCH: Ramaphosa is a coward, says Malema

Stakeholders in the sector are accusing Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane of approving a charter that is difficult to implement.

Ramaphosa, who was elected ANC president in December, recently told delegates at the World Economic Forum in Davos, that he believed there needs to be more discussions around the charter.
