09 February 2015 - Judges Thokzile Masipa and Jeanette Traverso have faced angry accusations and insults after they acquitted Paralympian Oscar Pistorius and British businessman Shrien Dewani of murder.

JOHANNESBURG - South Africa’s Chief Justice has defended three of the country’s most controversial judges.

Judge Mogoeng Mogoeng hit out at what he describes as the vicious and personal criticism directed at the judges in the Oscar Pistorius and Shrien Dewani trials.

The country’s most powerful judge has also defended Cape Judge President John Hlophe who has raised eyebrows with plans to marry a fellow judge serving at his court.

Mogoeng Mogoeng said, "Love is a very powerful force and I don’t think any of us should seek to interfere with true love."
