FILE: Justice Baaitse Bess Nkabinde has been appointed acting deputy chief justice.
JOHANNESBURG - After serving as a justice of the Constitutional Court for 12 years, Bess Nkabinde will be standing down on Thursday.
She will be honoured with a formal court session on Thursday morning which the public can attend.

Nkabinde was the first South African woman to hold the position of Acting Chief Justice of the Court when she took up the post last year.
She became an advocate in 1988 and joined the North West bar in 1990.
Nkabinde began her stint as a Constitutional Court Justice in 2006.
