Education department condemns BlackMonday protests


Cosatu has cancelled its planned march against e-tolls on major Gauteng routes today.

JOHANNESBURG - The Basic Education Department has condemned the Black Monday protests which disrupted schooling in some areas.

It says the organisers were selfish and completely disregarded the rights of the pupils.

The department says those who weren&39;t able to get to school will be given an opportunity to write their exams.

Thousands blocked roads nationwide, protesting against farm murders.

In many of the affected areas, matric pupils either arrived late or could not get to their writing centres.

Pupils who arrived late were allowed to write.
