JOHANNESBURG - A suspended Eskom official has described an intricate web of influence at the company, allegedly centred around the Gupta family.

Eskom&39;s former legal head, Suzanne Daniels, took the stand on Wednesday at Parliament&39;s inquiry into state capture at state-owned entities.

She stunned MPs when she described how Ajay Gupta tried to manipulate court dates involving former CEO Brian Molefe.

She also claims Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown was aware Molefe was being allowed to retire with full pension benefits.

Brown has denied knowing about Molefe&39;s retirement package.

Daniels also claims suspended Eskom CFO Anoj Singh helped disguise payments of R1.6-billion to Trillian and consultancy firm McKinsey.
