Eskom suspends power station bosses over coal shortages

JOHANNESBURG - Eskom has suspended three power station managers over the current shortage of coal supply.

Managers at the Kendal, Matla and Hendrina power stations have been placed on suspension. and chief procurement officer Jay Pillay has been served with a precautionary notice.

Eskom says it is unable to go into details or reasons for the suspensions.

Six of the country&39;s 15 power stations are running low on coal.

But the utility says its recovery plan is working well to ensure the lights stay on this winter.
