JOHANNESBURG - Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown&39;s given Eskom the green light to purchase additional renewable energy from independent power producers.

She&39;s approved Eskom&39;s application to sign outstanding agreements with producers in the final bid windows.

Brown says these power purchase agreements are critical to the national energy policy.

Nearly two years ago, Eskom refused to sign further agreements, citing financial problems.
