JOHANNESBURG - The former CEO of the Council On Higher Education says government is passing the buck on fees.
Ahmed Essop said on Monday a long-term solution on student fees was needed.
"I think what the minister has announced is welcome as it&39;s likely to avert, notwithstanding what we&39;re hearing from Wits students, ... a crisis ... I don&39;t think it&39;s a solution," said Essop.
"If anything it&39;s going to create a bigger problem ... it&39;s a holding operation."
