File: The failed project saw hundreds of millions of rands meant for emerging farmers landing up in accounts belonging to Gupta associates.
VREDE, Free State - The lid has been blown off just how much money could have been looted from the Gupta-linked Estina dairy farm project if the whistle hadn’t been blown back in 2013.
The National Prosecuting Authority’s Asset Forfeiture Unit has obtained a preservation order to seize R220-million that the court determined is proceeds of crime.
Sitting in the Phumelela Council in 2012 was Doctor Radebe who raised a red flag about who would actually walk away with the money.
Radebe says that at the time, in presenting the project to council, the then Free State Agriculture MEC Mosebenze Zwane -- now Mineral Resources Minister -- guaranteed R400-million to the project.
But, that wasn’t all.
