JOHANNESBURG - Wits students took part in an anti-rape and rape culture protest outside the campus’s Great Hall to show solidarity with students at Rhodes University in the Eastern Cape.

Half-naked young women at the Johannesburg campus had painted on their bodies words such  as “Nix Mapha” and “Revolt” as part of their protest.

Wits journalism student Tebogo Tshwane, who was at the protest, said it was peaceful.

“The students began the protests at about 1pm maintaining their stance against rape culture and their solidarity with Rhodes.”
