JOHANNESBURG - With the recent spate of service delivery protests in the country, the acting police commissioner in Gauteng said the public must stop criticising how police deal with protestors.
Lieutenant General Lesetja Mothiba said people should put themselves in the shoes of the SAPS and refrain from being “armchair critics”.
Last month a man was allegedly shot by police after residents barricaded roads in a protest over housing in Roodepoort, west of Johannesburg.
Four police officers have been arrested.
Police cited Khutsong, Bekkersdal, Roodepoort and Bronkhorstspruit as the most affected areas.
Mothiba also condemned the vandalism during protests.
