08 June 2015 eNCA reporter Dasen Thathiah takes a closer look at what's going on at the Glebelands hostel in Durban, where at least 25 people have been killed over the past 14 months in ongoing attacks.

UMLAZI - Glebelands Hostel dwellers in Umlazi, south of Durban, are now calling on the United Nations for help them deal with violence in the area.

They fear this will escalate as local government elections approach.

At least 62 people have reportedly been murdered there over the past two years.

ANC councillor Zodwa Sibiya is the latest victim - she was shot dead last night.

Residents want the UN to intervene.

Public Protector Thuli Madonsela is currently investigating the situation, after residents wrote to her office.

She visited the hostel in December.
