Government exploring ways to deal with housing problems

Johannesburg, 2 June 2015 - Government is urging corporates to join the fight for adequate housing in South Africa. This includes paying housing subsidies or providing rental options for employees.

JOHANNESBURG - Government is urging corporates to join the fight for adequate housing in South Africa.

This includes paying subsidies or providing rental options for employees.

The Department of Human Settlements says its exploring various ways to deal with housing problems.

They are hoping this initiative will help those who don&39;t qualify for RDP houses, but struggle to get bank funding.

Department of Human Settlements spokesman said they don’t want companies to collapse because they must give their employees money for housing. 

"We are saying there is funds that are with government, and we want to work with them to leverage that amount.”
