DURBAN - At least six people have died as a result of flooding in KwaZulu-Natal.

Weekend downpours in Durban and along the KZN coast have caused chaos.

Four people, including a child, drowned while trying to cross a swollen river, south of the city.

Another child has died in a landslide in Umlazi.

In the Sea Cow Lake area, a child escaped death after being trapped under a collapsed retaining wall.

In Shongweni, a child died after the car he was travelling in struck a barrier.

KZN EMS spokesman Robert Mckenzie said the EThekwini region was the worst affected.

More rain has been forecast for today, but the weather is expected to start clearing.

It's hoped the rain will bring relief from the drought affecting parts of KZN.
