JOHANNESBURG - Xhosa initiation film Inxeba: The Wound will be back in cinemas on Friday.

Producers challenged its reclassification in the North Gauteng High Court on Tuesday.

The court has now overruled that decision, pending the outcome of a review process, set for later this month.

For the time being, the film will be distributed with an 18 age restriction.

The producers served a lawsuit on the Film and Publication Board Appeals Tribunal.

Earlier, the board gave the movie a classification rating of X18.

Some cultural organisations that have objected to sexual acts between men portrayed in the film, maintain it should not be shown in public.
