JOHANNESBURG – A man, believed to be in his 30s, was seriously injured when he was knocked off his bicycle by a minibus taxi on Cedar Road in Fourways on Saturday morning, paramedics said.

ER24 paramedics, along with Life Healthcare, arrived on the scene to find the man lying on the pavement. The taxi had come to a stop some distance away in a ditch, ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said.

“Paramedics quickly assessed the man and [established] that he had sustained numerous injuries and was in a serious condition. The man was treated for his injuries and provided with pain-relief medication by the advanced life support paramedics.”

Once treated, the man was transported to Life Fourways Hospital for further treatment. It was alleged that the man had been knocked off his bicycle by the taxi.

Local authorities were investigating, Meiring said.
