Durban, 5 November 2015 - There are two contenders for the party's top job in the province, Senzo Mchunu and Sihle Zikalala. The gathering is taking place despite four attempts to hold an eThekwini regional congress were disrupted by delegates.
MTUBATUBA, KwaZulu-Natal - The ANC Youth League (ANCYL) in KwaZulu-Natal is preparing for its biggest court case yet against provincial leaders.
Treasurer in the region, Verus Ncaphalala, made the comments at a Cadres Forum in Matubatub in northern KZN on Wednesday.
ANC chairperson Sihle Zikalala and his provincial leadership face a legal battle to determine the integrity of the election in which he came out tops.
He won against former premier Senzo Mchunu in 2015.
But Mchunu's supporters claim the voting process was rigged.
Earlier this month, the High Court in Pietermaritzburg reserved judgment in the matter.
The league said even if the judgment goes against them it will continue supporting Zikalala.
"If needs be, regardless of the court outcomes, we not shaken, we will go back to our branches and lobby for comrade Sihle Zikalala to lead the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal again," said Ncaphalala.
