Malema fights fraud, corruption charges

POLOKWANE - It seems that it will be every man for themselves in the Julius Malema trial.

Malema has made representations to the National Prosecuting Authority requesting the withdrawal of charges against him.

His lawyer, Thumi Mokwena, said the team was requesting the withdrawal of the charges but would not elaborate on the details.

Notably, Malema did not talk to his two co-accused Lesiba Gwangwa and Kagisho Dichaba in the courtyard outside courtroom B at the Polokwane High Court.

The three have retained separate legal teams, with heavyweight Lawrence Hodes SC representing Malema.

Hodes represented Glen Agliotti in the trial for the murder of Brett Kebble.

Malema is expected back on court on November 28. The NPA are expected to decide on Malema&39;s representations and report to the court on that day.

The full case is postponed to September 30, 2014.
