JOHANNESBURG - Former president Thabo Mbeki has refuted a statement by ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe, that "former presidents will start attending party events leading up to the 2019 elections."

Mabe made the comments during the ANC Election Workshop held at the weekend, which was attended by former president Jacob Zuma.

On Thursday, ANC Secretary General Ace Magashule also said Mbeki, Zuma and Kgalema Motlanthe will join election activities
