In a video apparently recorded on October 20 and lasting less than a minute, Stephen McGown said he was well and hoped to see his family soon.
JOHANNESBURG - The father of a South Africa man held hostage in Mali is considering going to that country.
Stephen McGown and Swedish national Johan Gustafsson were abducted by al-Qaeda in November 2011.
Stephen’s father, Malcolm, wants to push Mali’s authorities to help with operations to release them.
Over the weekend, Stephen’s mother, Beverly, died without being reunited with her son.
The family says her final wish was to see him again.
Relief organisation Gift of the Givers has been trying to secure their release.
