CAPE TOWN – The Portfolio Committee on Mineral Resources will on Wednesday, hold a follow-up meeting with the Department of Mineral Resources on the latest developments at the Optimum coal mine in Mpumalanga.
Last week, the committee met with the department, the National Union of Mine Workers (NUM) and the Member of the Executive Committee for the Mpumalanga Department of Economic Development and Tourism, Mr Eric Kholwane, to discuss the same matter. In that meeting, the committee asked the department’s delegation to return with answers to a number of unanswered questions.

On Wednesday, the committee expects answers from the senior delegation of the department, including the Minister and Acting Director-General.
