JOHANNESBURG - There's been mixed reaction to Eskom CEO Brian Molefe's resignation.

Molefe announced that he was stepping down voluntarily and in the interest of good governance.

Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown says she's saddened by Molefe's departure as he's been instrumental in Eskom’s turnaround.

Non-profit organisation Greenpeace Africa says his resignation is a victory for accountability.

The EFF says it sees this as a cleansing of state institutions linked to the controversial Gupta family.

The DA has also welcomed Molefe's decision and has promised to lay charges against him in light of serious revelations in the state of capture report.
