Maimane reiterates support for gay rights

Johannesburg, 13 May 2015 - Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini urged the DA leader to clarify his stance on LGBTI issues.

JOHANNESBURG - DA leader Mmusi Maimane has reiterated his support for gay rights.

Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini urged the D-A leader to clarify his stance on LGBTI issues on Wednesday.

She referred to a 2014 sermon in which Maimane, who is also a pastor, appeared to suggest that gay people are sinners.

Maimane countered by saying he has always supported gay rights.
