JOHANNESBURG - Brian Molefe is no longer the head of Eskom.

The board has abided by Public Enterprises Minister Lynn Brown’s order to rescind his reappointment.

Brown’s decision was based on recommendations form the inter-ministerial committee looking into Eskom.

WATCH: Brian Molefe contract to be rescinded

Molefe left the parastatal after he was implicated in the Public Protector's report on state capture.

Brown refused to grant him a R30-million pension pay-out and Molefe agreed to return to Eskom, claiming he hadn’t resigned but had taken unpaid leave.

His return was widely criticised by the ANC, DA, EFF and civil society groups.
