JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba has suspended the city’s finance head.

Rabelani Dagada has been removed from the post and suspended as a councillor, pending an inquiry.

Dagada is accused of undue influence and nepotism.

Mashaba says an independent forensic investigation has found conflicts of interests with individuals closely associated to him.

The probe has also found Dagada was involved in price-fixing with a service provider to the city.

Mashaba says Dagada will also face criminal charges.

Dagada has denied the allegations and vowed to clear his name.
