Parliament, 08 September 2016 - Advocate Busisiwe Mkwebane is a signature away from being South Africas new public protector. Parliament's backed her nomination. It's now up to President Jacob Zuma to approve the appointment.
JOHANNESBURG - Pressure is mounting on the new Public Protector to prove that she’s not a Zuma puppet.
Busisiwe Mkhwebane will on Monday receive the State Capture report from Parliament.
It was handed over to the National Assembly for safekeeping after former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela vacated the office on Friday.
Madonsela had intended to release the report to the public, but an interdict by President Jacob Zuma and Cooperative Governance Minister Des Van Rooyen prevented her from doing so.
The Democratic Alliance says once litigation surrounding the release of the report is finalised, Mkhwebane must fight for its immediate release.
