PORT ELIZABETH - Nelson Mandela Bay residents are experiencing water shortages and low pressure.

The extreme heat is worsening the situation.

Residents are being warned to use water sparingly.

Authorities say the treatment plant in the area is unable cope with the high water demand.

The areas affected by water supply problems include Motherwell, Ibhayi, Chatty, Despatch and Uitenhage.

The municipality is urging residents and businesses to comply with water restrictions.

Hot weather conditions are expected to persist this week.
