STELLENBOSCH - Western Cape police say no-one has been taken in for questioning following the murders of three family members at the De Zalze Winelands Golf Estate outside Stellenbosch.

A couple and their 22-year-old son were found hacked to death on January 27. Their 16-year-old daughter was found seriously wounded and taken to Stellenbosch Medical Center.

Media reports stated that an axe was used in the attack and a man in his 20’s was taken in for questioning.

However, Western Cape police spokesman Captain Frederick van Wyk denied these claims, saying nobody was taken into custody from the scene.

“The police have not made any arrest at this stage nor have they taken in anybody for questioning. An investigation is continuing," said Van Wyk.

"We are unable to speculate on the motive as well as the weapon used in the incident.”

The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed.

Western Cape Emergency Services spokesperson, Robert Daniels said the teenage girl was in a critical condition.
