JOHANNESBURG - No arrests have been made following a shootout between the police and Vanderbijlpark community members.

On Tuesday, police were conducting a drug search in a house.

A police spokesperson says community members took a body from the house and put it in the police van, making it appear as if he was killed by the police.

This led to community members -- most of them Nigerian nationals -- attacking the officers.

A case of assault, attempted murder and murder has been opened.
