JOHANNESBURG – The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said no formal extradition request had been made for alleged state capture fugitive Ajay Gupta.
The authority said that it may take some time before such a request is made.
NPA spokesperson Luvuyo Mfaku said this was because the State Capture investigations are ongoing.
He said suspects in the case may face many more charges when those processes are finalised.
“There is no formal extradition process that has been initiated… so you are not prohibited from charging them on the other investigations that are still outstanding,” said NPA spokesperson Luvuyo Mfaku.
