Gauteng, April 16 – The City of Johannesburg says its emergency services and metro police, will be combined.

The announcement last week said the two will now fall under a public safety umbrella.

Both services have been plagued by fraud, corruption and financial mismanagement.

But the city said last week, the merger was aimed at maximising the efficacy of different functions.
