NFP disqualified from local government elections

JOHANNESBURG - The National Freedom Party has dismissed reports it&39;s struggling with finances.

The Independent Electoral Commission says the NFP has been disqualified from the upcoming municipal elections after it failed to pay registration fees on time.

A break-away of the Inkatha Freedom Party, it received overwhelming support in the municipal elections that year.

It also managed to garner six seats in the last general election becoming the fifth largest party in the country.

But five years later it seems that all is not well in the orange party.

The NFP has been disqualified from the upcoming local government elections.

The Independent Electoral Commission says it failed to meet the June deadline to pay its full registration fee.
