JOHANNESBURG - Employees of Oakbay Resources have written an open letter to the CEOs of South Africa’s major banks.

In the letter, they plead with the institutions to restore relations with the Gupta-owned company.

FNB, Nedbank, Absa and Standard bank have announced they will cut ties with the company.

This followed accusations of state capture by the Gupta family.

The employees ask the banks to consider the impact of their decision, saying that thousands will be left jobless.

24-hour news channel ANN7 and The New Age newspaper are both part of Oakbay, which also has mining interests.
