One dead at Harmony Gold's Tshepong mine

WELKOM – Harmony Gold has revealed that one of its employees was killed after an incident at its Tshepong mine near Welkom on Tuesday afternoon.

The body of the deceased has yet to be recovered and brought to the surface.

“Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited regrets to advise that one of its employees was fatally injured in a fall of ground related incident at its Tshepong mine near Welkom in the Free State on Tuesday afternoon. Challenging conditions continue to impact the recovery of the deceased,” Harmony Gold said in a statement.

Harmony Gold said an investigation into the accident is underway.
