Parents to meet department after school sexual assault allegations

JOHANNESBURG - Parents from a Soweto school will meet with Gauteng Education officials on Sunday.

The meeting comes after 87 pupils were sexually assaulted, allegedly by a 57-year-old man.

The youngest victim is six-years-old.

Senior management, including the principal, have been removed from the school.

The authorities believe the sexual attacks began in February, but it only came to light after the arrest of the 57-year-old suspect.

The Teddy Bear Clinic is providing trauma counselling for the children.

It’s also advising parents on how to handle sexual violations.
