Opposition parties were not convinced that recent controversies at the broadcaster were due to misunderstandings.

The SABC stood its ground, claiming reports about chaos at the broadcaster are all part of a smear campaign.

"Maybe the inquiry should be, why are these people having so much interest?" asked SABC COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng.

"Maybe we should start with them. And inquire about them. What is it with these people that they have so much interest at the SABC. Because I know why."
