JOHANNESBURG – Gauteng premier David Makhura is set to declare some parts of Gauteng disaster areas following massive storms.

Parts of City of Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni and the West Rand District Municipalities were left destructed after the storms on Monday.

According to the Gauteng government, approximately 840 houses have been damaged by the storm and an estimated 1600 people have been affected, with five fatalities reported so far.

 

 

KwaZulu-Natal was the hardest hit provinces and has so far claimed 11 lives.
